Shikimic acid is a natural organic compound, primarily extracted from star anise. It’s a key pharmaceutical intermediate, crucial for synthesizing antiviral drugs like oseltamivir. With anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, it’s also used in cosmetics and functional foods. Its high purity (often 98%+) makes it valuable in pharmaceutical and chemical industries.
